The Belize Agricultural Health Authority invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position: Quarantine Inspector Minimum qualification and skills: 1. An Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences (Agriculture) or Agricultural Science;2. At least one (1) year work related experience;3. Computer literate particularly in Microsoft Suite and knowledge of other related programs and software would be an asset. Competencies:1. A Bachelor’s Degree in veterinary medicine and surgery;2. Registered veterinary surgeon in Belize (DVM);3. Computer literate particularly in Microsoft Suite, TADinfo, GIS. The Veterinary Officer of the Animal Health Department will be responsible for the technical and administrative functions, overseeing and coordinating various programs related to animal health, including the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and control of diseases in wildlife species.The Veterinary Officer also designs, implements, and manages health and surveillance programs, ensuring adherence to biosecurity protocols, and facilitating animal traceability efforts in collaboration with local, regional and international stakeholders. He/she also leads the development of emergency preparedness and response plans, participates in disease outbreak control, and ensures the effectiveimplementation of disease control strategies in coordination with the technical team.
